Logo Concept
As an Atlanta native and sports fan, I started a passion project for a logo design for Trae Young's brand. Being that he recently signed with Jordan brand after being with Adidas, I wanted to build a brand that is not only personal to him, but also aligns with the Jordan brand.
Logo Concept
The strategy behind this logo design was to create an icon that was unique and would feed into the sports market. It was also designed to be functional across shoes and other merchandise. The Akzidenz-Grotesk typeface is on brand with other Jordan brand athletes and complements the icon's bold lines.
Design Direction
The brandmark itself presents a hexagon base, symbolizing his play style keeping the pace and creating stability on the court. As identifiers, the mark combines the “T.Y.” initials in a geometric way. It can also be seen as a cube, paying homage to his nickname “Ice Trae”.
